Dual Russian-American citizen has been charged with acting as a spy in the US

A double Russian-American resident has been accused of going about as a covert agent in the US, as per court filings that say she ran associations that "looked to spread Russian promulgation"

Elena Branson was accused Tuesday of acting and plotting to act in the US illicitly as a specialist of the Russian government, resolutely neglecting to enlist under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, scheming to carry out visa extortion, and offering bogus expressions to the FBI, as per a criminal objection.

The grievance charges that Branson escaped to Russia in 2020.

From something like 2011, Branson chipped away at the benefit of the Russian government and Russian authorities to propel Russian interests in the US, the objection says. Examiners affirm she composed gatherings for Russian authorities to campaign US political authorities and money managers, and worked associations to openly advance Russian government arrangements.
